What is Pezana?+
Pezana is a free personal budgeting app designed for Ethiopia. It lets you track money across cash, wallet and bank accounts, allocate your monthly income across categories that match real Ethiopian life, and understand your spending with clear insights — fully in Amharic or English.
Is Pezana free to use?+
Yes. Pezana's core features — account tracking, budgeting and spending insights — are free. If we introduce optional premium features in the future, we'll announce it in advance.
How do I add my accounts?+
Open the app and add each place your money lives — cash on hand, mobile wallet balance, and bank accounts. You enter the starting balances yourself; Pezana then tracks everything side by side so you always see your true total.
Does Pezana connect to my bank or move money?+
No. Pezana is a tracking and budgeting tool only — it never connects to your bank, never asks for banking credentials, and cannot send, receive or move money. It is not a bank or a payment service.
How does automatic SMS transaction tracking work?+
If you choose to enable it, Pezana can read SMS messages from a fixed allowlist of Ethiopian banks and mobile money services and turn them into transactions automatically. Parsing happens entirely on your device, only the structured details (amount, direction, date, sender) are saved, and the raw SMS text is never sent to our servers. It's completely optional — you can decline or revoke the permission any time in your device Settings. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Can I use Pezana in Amharic?+
Yes — the entire app works in both Amharic and English, and you can switch languages at any time in the app settings.
I forgot my password — how do I reset it?+
On the login screen, tap "Forgot password" and enter your account email — you'll receive a reset link. If you signed up with Google Sign-In, just use the Google button to log back in. Still stuck? Email support@pezana.co.
How is my data protected?+
Your data is stored securely with Google Firebase, transmitted over encrypted HTTPS/TLS, and protected by security rules that restrict access to your authenticated account only. We never sell your personal information. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
How do I delete my account and data?+
Fastest way: open Pezana → Profile → Delete Account — everything is permanently removed within seconds. Can't access the app? Follow the steps on our account deletion page.
